Hi all,
This weeks post is going to be a review of my week in Spain as I talk about what to do and where to stay. Photos are at the bottom of the post in order with the items on my list.
For a nice hostel that is is super close to the number one 1 item on my list, consider staying at No Limit Hostel. The address is Carrer D' Arago 527 and they have a 7.6 rating on hostelworld. The staff was extremely nice, the hostel was clean, and the staff offers FREE dinner every night at 9pm that is made by volunteers and was always amazing. Please check them out if you are considering booking a hostel for your stay in BCN!
1. Sagrada Familia
The Sagrada Familia was the best part of the trip for me. While I didn't go inside (and wish now that I had) the church was absolutely beautiful. You won't find anything like it back in the states and maybe not even in the rest of Europe, but because I haven't explored the all of Europe I can't say for sure. However, if you find a building similar to the Sagrada Familia PLEASE shoot me an email and let me know! I would love to see it!
2. Park Guell
This park was not only very spacious, and beautiful, but also most parts of the park are free. You can rent canoes and kayaks to take on the late, get your photo taken with exotic birds, take photos by the lake and relax for the day. While I did not pay to see some exhibits in the park, I would like to if I ever went back to BCN and learn some more about the history behind the park. Something I strongly encourage you do to while you are visiting Park Guell is to make your way to the highest point and take photos of the incredible view of BCN you will get as long as it is a nice day out.
3. St. Joseph La Boqueria Market
St. Joseph's is a famous market in BCN that is DEFINITELY worth seeing. The market is very big with a wide assortment of fresh fruit, meat, desserts, and drinks. While there I tried bead stuffed with cheese and potatoes, Spanish ham, chocolate covered strawberries, a fruit smoothy and one other dessert that is escaping me right now. The market reminded me of spending the day at a local market I have back home and it was nice to have that comfort feeling so far from the United States.
4. Take a walk through Gothic Quarter
Gothic Quarter has some famous architecture like one pictured in the gallery above. The strip is not only beautiful, but one of 3 neighborhoods in the old town. The strip has a lot of bars, clubs, and restaurants along the medieval streets. This strip is a must see for photo lovers and nice place to go on a walk before possibly visiting Park Parc De La Ciutadella and the Aquarium while you are at it.
5. Arc De Triomf
Arc De Triomf is another famous spot in Barcelona not too far from the Sagrada Familia. Individuals can see the Arc from a good distance away surrounded by a row of palm trees on either side. The Arc is another incredible piece of architecture within BCN good for photo lovers and selfies. I only spent about 20 minutes there is total, but if I ever go back to Barcelona I would definitely make sure to walk by the Arc one last time.
6 Beach and shopping
Tired of parks and markets? Need something else to do? The last item on my list is to visit a beach that is a short taxi ride away and around a nice shopping center surrounded by affordable places to eat for lunch or dinner.
